Ministry Team News

We have exciting news from Hilary about new members of our licensed staff team in the Holyford Mission Community. She introduces John, Jan and Shuna below.

Special Licensing Service with Bishop Robert

The service for the whole Mission Community is on Wednesday April 22nd at 7.30 pm in St Andrew’s Colyton. During our worship Bishop Robert will license John, Jan and Shuna, and will celebrate our Mission Community, its parishes and the next stage of our life together. This will be a wonderful opportunity for us to meet him and for him to discover Holyford!   Do come along to support John, Jan and Shuna and to give thanks for our life together here.

Our new Team Members

Last December, Revd John and Mrs Jan Lees moved into our Mission Community.   John is a Minister in Secular Employment which means he is an ordained priest who largely exercises his ministry through his daily work, which is focused on coaching and training. In addition he is the author of a number of books about work and careers. He has also exercised a lively and rich ministry in Chester Diocese both in his home parishes and through a variety of training roles in the wider diocese. Jan is a highly experienced Reader, who has also exercised a wide ranging ministry in Chester Diocese, as well as being a published children’s author, poet and story teller. I am delighted to say that in April, John will be licensed to our Mission Community as an Associate Minister and Jan as a Reader. Both will be offering their time to our Mission Community whilst continuing with other work and roles including, for John, a training role in Exeter Diocese.

As previously announced, we will be welcoming Mrs Anne Futcher to the Mission Community in September as a full-time, stipendiary (paid) curate. Her ordination as Deacon will be in Exeter Cathedral on September 13th. In addition, after Easter, we will also be welcoming Revd Shuna George. Shuna will be joining us as a part-time, self-supporting curate, giving her time to us on a voluntary basis. She has already completed part of her curacy in other settings and will be joining us to gain further experience in order to complete her training. She brings with her many gifts and skills, and is a talented artist. Shuna will be in our Mission Community for three ‘sessions’ each week, a session being equivalent to a morning, afternoon or evening.
