Easter Decorations

Here’s a good idea received via our Facebook page: Since we can’t decorate our churches for Easter this year, why don’t we all decorate our windows at home for Easter? (But don’t pick the beautiful wild daffodils!)

Maundy Thursday Vigil

Following a good idea we are still keeping the vigil this year but in our own homes. We would be happy for anyone across our Mission Community churches to participate, and not only Colyton where this has been our tradition. We aim to stay awake, to pray & keep watch throughout the night. It has also been suggested that people may like to light a candle in their window at the time they are holding the vigil at home.

The time schedule will be every half hour (as usual) from 9pm Maundy Thursday 9th April until 8am Good Friday 10th 2020.

Please contact Christine on either 01297 552065 or email via the form on the Contact page so she can complete the timetable with your preferred slot(s).

This is Holy Week Poster

Usually we give out posters on Palm Sunday to those who want to put them in their windows. We haven’t been able to do that this year, so we’ve made our own. You can download this poster, print it and display it. You can also download the poster for Easter, He is Risen!

Finding the Light

A film of a Lenten art project led by Jan Lees for Holyford Mission Community, with participation from other church members. Please click to see the film.

In the film Jan demonstrates some of the techniques she uses with charcoal and erasers, offering insights into the way the art was created. This is followed by a gallery of the images created by Jan and the other participants, with reflections and poems.

Food Banks

Sadly, at the moment we can’t provide collecting boxes in our churches for Seaton or Axminster food banks. But of course the need at the moment is greater than ever.

If you would like to give a financial donation by BACs so that supplies can be bought, the details for Seaton are:

Foodbank in Seaton, Account: 27215060, Sort Code: 30-90-37

Thank you very much for your continuing support.

Sunday evening candles

Many churches around the country are taking up the idea of a candle in the window not just on Mothering Sunday, but every Sunday at the moment at 7 pm. So please join us in this quiet witness of caring, faith and hope.

This week we are praying especially for our NHS.

Lighten our darkness, we beseech thee, O Lord;
and by thy great mercy defend us from all perils and dangers of this night;
for the love of thy only Son, our Saviour Jesus Christ.
Amen.

Church Closure

Following the Prime Minister’ announcement on 23rd March, all our churches now have to be closed until further notice.

But we are still the living church. We can stay in touch and find new ways of helping one another with spiritual as well as practical support.

“For we walk by faith, not by sight.” 2 Corinthians 5.7

Candlepower on Mothering Sunday

At 7 pm on Mothering Sunday, 22nd March, candles were placed in windows around the Mission Community to shine a message of caring and hope.
