September 2018. Over the summer months we have appointed a new Children and Families worker, Linda Joy. She writes: Hello, my name is Linda Joy and I have recently moved to Devon from Northamptonshire. I am an Early Years Teacher and Forest School Leader, and I have a passion for work with children and their families. As well as running a pre-school, over the years I have been involved in Sunday Schools, Messy Church, Café Church and Sporty Church. Please contact Linda for further information about our family activities.
Junior Choir Members
St Andrew’s Choir in Colyton, led by the Director of Music Nicholas Brown, offers girls and boys from the age of seven or above the opportunity to join with men and women in singing to a high standard. No previous experience or knowledge is necessary and new members are always welcome. The choir practises on Friday evenings and helps to lead the worship on Sunday mornings (except the third Sunday, when the choir sings at Evensong). In recent years, six of the junior choir members have received the Royal School of Church Music Gold Award – an outstanding achievement for Colyton. Junior choir members can also qualify for bursaries to pay for the cost of learning an instrument or help with residential courses. More about music in Colyton here.
Links with local schools and pre-schools
We also value our partnerships with our schools. Members of the ministry team regularly takes assemblies at Branscombe, Colyton and Musbury primary schools and members of the church in Musbury also enjoy leading ‘Open the Book’ at Musbury primary school. Linda also runs a weekly lunchtime club at Branscombe primary school. We enjoy a close relationship with Colyton Grammar School and with our local pre-schools: Colyton Caterpillars, Musbury Moles and Branscombe Pre-school.
